Ordering info

I buy all my flowers locally, so availability changes by the season. In the spring you'll see lots of lilies and tulips and irises in my arrangements, and in the summer you'll see sunflowers and daisies, and in the fall you'll see mums, dahlias, and hydreangeas.

I can find almost any color of yarn, but there are a few problem colors in flowers. If you order one of the following colors, be sure to specify one or two more colors. I'll incorporate all the colors into the yarn and what I have into the flowers.

Black: Around Halloween, there are black flowers in abundance. I always stock up on them then, so if it is late fall thru spring, I will probably have black flowers. I also usually have flowers with black centers, or black spots (ex. on lilies.) Inquire for availability.

Green: I very rarely find green flowers, usually if you want green I'll do green leaves with another color of flowers. Inquire for availability.

Aqua, Cyan, Mint Green, etc. Flowers in greenish shades of blue are nearly nonexistant. If you order these, make sure to at least have a second color.

Gold, Silver, Copper: Around Christmas I can sometimes find metallic gold or silver roses. I have found that most of the time if someone requests gold or silver flowers they really mean non-metallic colors like maize or light gray. If you request gold, silver or copper be sure to clarify what you mean!

While I'm on this track, I may as well note several common sources of confusion regarding colors. When you request a color, be descriptive. Don't say pink, instead say rose, magenta, or pale pink. Don't say blue, instead say royal blue, sky blue, or turquoise. If you don't know the name, feel free to type bluish gray with a hint of green in there, I'll get it!

Or if you want you can always e-mail me a pic of your costume and I'll design a hairpiece to match!

I use 3 different kinds of yarn. Usually two are eyelash or fancy yarns and one is a puffy yarn for bulk. The puffy yarn only comes in more common colors like black, white, burgundy, light blue, and a few others. If you don't specify one of those colors in the mix, I will usually use black. The black tends to set off other colors to the best advantage, and also tends to blend in with most of our hair colors. If you absolutely do not want any black puffy yarn in there, make a note under "Special Instructions" and be sure to include one of those colors in your mix.

The yarn that looks really good in these hairpieces is usually multi-colored, so there may be some extra colors in there in addition to what you specified. This generally tends to happen the most if you order an unusual combination of colors. For instance, if you order purple and black, your finished hairpiece will be shades of purple and black, but if you order pink, green, and ivory, I will likely include some pastel rainbow shaded yarn to tie in the pink with the green and ivory.

Flowers are arranged with floral tape (same method used for corsages, then attached to finding (headband, barrette, clip, etc) with heavy floral wire. I reinforce each flower on its stem with glue. Yarn is attached with wire, or in the case of the cascading headdress, knotted to the frame with macrame knots. Also, each headdress comes with wire loops hidden upon which to attach accessories like cowrie braids and hair tassels. On me (I am 5'6") the 14" yarn falls are mid-back length, the 22" yarn falls are waistlength, and the 30" yarn falls are hip length.
